In the department of geography at the College of Arts, the PhD dissertation titled " The Change of the Hydrologic  Map of Basra Governorate by Using Remote Sensory Technologies"

This dissertation included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with the geographic factors affecting the water map of Basra. In the second, the hydrologic properties of the water map in Basra were examined. The third chapter examined the analysis of the morphometric properties of the surface drain network in Basra. The fourth chapter showed the negative effects of the change of the water map in Basra.

This dissertation aimed at spotting the hydrologic and the morphometric changes and the water stretch during (1988, 1998, 2009 and 2019). It managed to identifying the direct measurements of the quantitative and qualitative changes as well as the seasonal changes during the study span of time that witnessed dry and wet periods in order to arrive at the nearest interpretation of the phenomenon being accepted  scientifically and highlighting what had happened in the last decades regarding the issue of water.

This dissertation arrived at the clear hydromorphometric changes during the study span between (1988 and 2019). These showed obvious changes due to the changes of the water map upon the various activities of the people in the study area. The dissertation showed the effect of the relationship between the natural and the human factors in affecting the hydromorphometric properties of water in the study area and their environmental effects upon various activities of direct connection to water in the study area.
