Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hameed Al Kaabi, the Department of Arabic held an extensive symposium to discuss the issue of violence against women.

The symposium, in which all of Dr. Azhar Ali, Dr. Angeris Tuma, Dr. Sana Sabah, and Dr. Samia Abdul Razzaq participated, aims to introduce the injustice women face in many regions of Iraq and affirmed their rejection of violence suffered by a major segment of society, stressing that violence against women is a matter rejected in Sharia and the constitution and that standing against violence does not necessarily mean accepting many illegal and immoral practices that some are trying to pass under this section. Each of the participants submitted a research paper that dealt with the issue from a different side.
