Brief history

 

The department of philosophy was established in 1995 due to the need of the College of Arts at the University of Basra for such direction of knowledge to develop the activity of scientific research plus providing distinguished cadre for the said university especially in philosophical knowledge just like other international universities. In this department, subjects related to philosophy and its epistemology have been taught and the teaching staff makes an effort to develop the sound thinking origins for the students to serve science and knowledge and our country.

Governmental academic association providing the scientific, administrative and technical support in the field of quality or the educational institutions of the human sciences to be more powerful and creative via preparing efficient outputs coping with the needs of the labour market, manipulating scientific  research and consultations for serving society and its institutions in terms of the international standards.

 

Goals

1- Supporting the academic institutions to scaffold the educational service and renewing the programs and curricula to cope with the regional and international developments.

2- Supporting the scientific research attempts for the teaching staff and postgraduates to serve society and finding solutions for the current issues and problems.

3- Sharing with the academic institutions in foreseeing the future and supporting them by providing active and verifiable future strategies

4- Assisting the role of consultation in the academic institutions and making them a centre for the cultural and scientific support

5- Continuous improvement for the teaching staff and focusing on the necessity of mastering English and computer plus activating the international standards of the rates of preparing teaching staff in relation to students

6- Delimiting difficulties faced by the teaching staff to enter into the international rankings and obtain credit from the different accreditation bodies

7- Directing the academic institutions to follow the health and safety methods for the teaching staff by adopting international standards to ensure sound and healthy environment.

8- Assisting running the academic institutions to achieve good academic reputation and escalating their competitive spirit in all areas.

9- Encouraging the academic institutions to hold international agreements and cooperating with accredited international symmetrical institutions

10- Projecting the honorable scientific image of the Iraqi researcher via supporting him in publishing in international journals in international conferences

11- Assisting the mutual relationship between the different academic institutions to provide suitable environment

12- Directing the academic institutions in maintaining the originality of the Iraqi society by assisting the citizenship spirit
