The Arabic Language Department Holds Several Events on the Occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language

In the presence of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Al Kaabi, the Department of Arabic held several events under the title “Day of Dhad”, in commemoration of the International Day of the Arabic Language.

These events, which were held in Al-Farazdaq Hall, included verses from the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem, followed by a panel discussion, a theatrical show, and honoring several retirees.

The panel discussion, which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Aqeel Abdul-Hussein, dealt with the presentation of several research papers, all of which were related to the Arabic language, presented by Prof. Dr. Jaber Khudair and entitled (The Grammar Lesson and Its Representations in Ancient Arabic Criticism), Prof. Dr. Khalil Khalaf Bashir and it was entitled (The Qur’an and Arabic) and the teacher  Dr. Adel Abdul-Jabbar and it was entitle (Reflections on Linguistic Knowledge), and the seminar aimed to highlight the great role of the Arabic language as a carrier of science, knowledge, and literature.

This was followed by a theatrical performance entitled (The Language of Ambition), directed by the student Habib Waheed, and the roles in it were performed by the students (Mojtaba Muhammad Reda, Abbas Jassim Al-Fraiji, Rashid Adnan, Durgham Hamad, Ayat Saeed, and Shifah Nazem Al-Mahoud), which was well-received by the audience.

The activities were concluded by honoring several retired instructors.
