Instructors and Students from the Department of Arabic Visit the Christian Churches in Basrah

Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hameed Al Kaabi, a delegation from the Arabic Language Department visited several churches in Basrah on the occasion of the Christmas holidays.

The delegation, which offered congratulations and greetings from the President of the University, the Dean of the College of Arts and the Head of the Arabic Language Department, included a number of instructors and students in the Arabic Language Department.

The delegation met with Bishop Firas Dardar, Bishop of the Catholic Church and responsible for the Christians of Basrah and the Arabian Gulf, and Bishop Hameed Hormuz, Bishop of the Chaldean Church.

At the beginning of the visits, Dr. Hamid Mardan, the rapporteur of the Arabic Language Department, presented the greetings of the employees of the University of Basrah, headed by the President of the University, the Dean of the College of Arts and the Head of the Arabic Language Department, and congratulated them on Christmas, wishing them continued joy, pointing to the love of Basrah people for their Christian brothers, who are united by one homeland and a long life of coexistence.

For their part, the Bishops expressed their thanks for the University of Basrah for this initiative, stressing their commitment to the brotherhood that unites them, appreciating these beautiful initiatives that confirm the pursuit of continuity of interdependence between the components of the Iraqi community.
