The College of Arts Organizes a Workshop Entitled Corona Pandemic and its Impact on the Population

The Department of Geography and Information Systems at the College of Arts organized a workshop on the Corona pandemic and its impact on the population in Basrah Governorate.

The workshop aimed to review the Corona pandemic and its new strains, as well as review the epidemiological importance of the Corona pandemic and the importance of vaccines and their role in facing Corona, in addition to reviewing the effects of the pandemic on cities and its social repercussions and its effects on food security, and climate changes resulting from the Corona pandemic and its impact on human health in Basrah Governorate.

 

The lecturers at the workshop were:

1- Prof. Dr. Basem Abdulaziz Al-Othman - Dr. Nadia Nuri Ali with a lecture dealt with (the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) and its social repercussions in Iraq - a case study of Basrah Governorate)

2- Prof. Dr. Amal Saleh Al-Kaabi - Asst. Prof. Huda Khaled Al-Attiyah - Asst. Prof. Huda Daoud Al-Saad with a lecture dealt with (the epidemiological significance of the Corona pandemic - a geomedical study)

3- Dr. Munther Jalil Abdel Abbas - Specialist Physician with a lecture dealt with (the Corona epidemic and its new strains).

4-Prof. Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa Al-Musawi with a lecture dealt with (the vaccine and its role in confronting the Corona pandemic).

5-Asst. Prof. Dr. Maryam Khairallah Khalaf with a lecture dealt with (the impact of the Corona virus pandemic on cities).

6- Asst. Prof. Dr. Adel Abdul-Amir with a lecture dealt with (the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on food security in Basrah Governorate).

7-Asst. Dr. Suad Abdullah Fadeeh, (Climate changes resulting from the Corona pandemic and its impact on the health of the population in Basrah Governorate).

8- Prof. Kholoud Kazem Khalaf Al-Jourani (e-learning and the Corona pandemic)

 The workshop dealt with two main topics, the first represented the situation of the disease, how it spreads, the most important methods of prevention and the importance of vaccination, and the second topic dealt with a statement of the most important effects on the population.

 

The workshop recommended:

1- Intensifying seminars and conferences related to the Corona pandemic and including them within the curricula.

2- Holding awareness meetings with students regarding the prevention of the Corona pandemic.

3- Raising awareness about vaccines and the necessity of taking them by different groups of society.
