The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Arts / University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Basrah Police Directorate, organized a scientific symposium entitled (The Scourge of Drugs and their Psychological, Social and Economic Effects and Ways to Treat them, Basrah as a Model).

The symposium included several topics, the most important of which are related to the causes of the spread of drugs and their negative effects on the Basrah community in particular and on Iraq in general, in addition to rehabilitating health centers to treat addiction and activating the death penalty for drug dealers and promoters and the position of the Iraqi legislator on drug crime and addressing the phenomenon of drug abuse.

In the end, the recommendation was to increase the number of awareness symposiums and publish awareness posters to stop these attacks that threaten societal peace and the future of the country.
