On Thursday morning, 20/1/2022, a master thesis, entitled (A Geographical Analysis of the Metallurgical Industries in the Governorate of Basrah and its Future Prospects), was discussed at the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts / University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student Zainab Mahmoud Abdel-Khuder included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the concept, importance and characteristics of metallurgical industries and their historical development in Basrah Governorate, the second chapter dealt with the elements of industrial settlement of metal industries, the third chapter discussed the structure of metallurgical industries, geographical distribution and statistical analysis of metal industries, and the fourth chapter included the problems facing metal industries and its future prospects.

The thesis aims to identify the reality of the metallurgical industries in Basrah Governorate, the factors of their settlement, their geographical distribution, the challenges they face and their future.

The thesis concluded:

1- The geographical components that it enjoys are considered a factor that contributed to the settlement and increase in the growth of metallurgical industries
