Discussion of the Student Ammar Abdel Razzaq Saleh’s Thesis

On Sunday morning, 23/1/2021, a master thesis, entitled (The History of the Palestinian Press in Haifa, Al-Karmel Newspaper as a Model 1908-1939), was discussed at the History Department at the College of Arts / University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student Ammar Abdel Razzaq Saleh included a preface dealing with the aspects of cultural life in the Palestinian city of Haifa at the end of the Ottoman era, the first chapter discussed the study of the trends of Al-Karmel newspaper in the Ottoman era, the second chapter focused on talking about the political positions of Al-Karmel newspaper in the years of the British Mandate (1920-1939), the third chapter dealt with the concerns of Al-Karmel newspaper from the economic and social issues in Palestine during the Ottoman era and the British Mandate authority.

The thesis aims to identify the emergence of the Arab press in Palestine and to show the various stages it went through and the stages of its development within its political and intellectual reality, to provide an idea of ​​the historical role that Al-Karmel newspaper played as part of Palestinian political history.
