Basrah University Organizes a Training Course for Postgraduate Students

The Department of History, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Arts / University of Basrah, organized a training course for postgraduate students - master - Islamic History on the historical method in writing theses.

The course, which was presented by (Assistant Professor Dr. Muayyad Ibrahim Muhammad, Assistant Teacher Asaad Abdel Aziz Ali, Assistant Teacher Muhammad Salman Munawwar, and Assistant Professor Mohsen Toma Yousef) dealt with several topics related to the method of writing historical research in the approved university theses.

The first topic dealt with the definition of the nature of historical, literary and linguistic sources and references and their importance and division into what is known as the primary and secondary reference, while the second topic dealt with the correct way to write the margin in the university thesis and the most important and most prominent errors in which many researchers fall and work to reduce and minimize those errors. The third topic dealt with the introduction, the way it was written, and the most important elements it included in the thesis. As for the fourth and final topic, it included writing the list of sources and the correct arrangement of that list based on their arrangement on the alphabet and dividing that list into primary sources and secondary references that include modern books, thesis, periodicals, research and internet sites.
