Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hameed Al Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Prof. Azhar Ali, a number of instructors and students of the Arabic Language Department (evening studies) made a scientific visit to the Central Public Library in Basra.

The delegation was received with a great welcome by the Secretary-General of the Library and its staff. The visit began with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah on the spirit of Mrs. Alia Muhammad Baqir, who held the position of Secretary-General  during the events of 2003 and transferred more than thirty thousand rare books and manuscripts to safe places to preserve this scientific treasures.

Then the delegation presented a bouquet of flowers to the Secretary-General of the library, after which the attendees listened to a detailed explanation of the library’s departments and the mechanism of work in them and to see its branches, then the students toured the library to see the scientific valuables in it.

In conclusion, the visiting delegation expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation for the good reception and the good explanation and presentation they received from the library staff, appreciating the great impact achieved by this important scientific experiment.
