Basrah University Organizes a Symposium on Political and Social Empowerment of Iraqi Women

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts / University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Women Empowerment Unit, organized a scientific symposium entitled Political and Social Empowerment of Iraqi Women.

The symposium, presented by Prof. Dr. Azhar Ali Yassin, Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Najat Abdel-Karim, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division, and Dr. Mayada Qais Ramadan, Director of the Continuing Education Unit, aims to shed light on women’s rights from the political and economic point of view and to present these rights from the point of view of the legislative law.

The symposium aims to introduce the feminist community at the university, especially female students, to their political and social rights, and how the legal Sharia has preserved these rights.

The symposium included several topics, the most important of which was empowering women politically and socially.
