Within the scientific activities of the College of Arts and under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hameed Al Kaabi, the History Department, in cooperation with the Academic Promotions Unit, organized an introductory workshop on the regulations for scientific promotions and obtaining the scientific title for instructors who intend to apply for scientific promotions for various scientific ranks in the Department of History (instructor, Assistant Professor, Professor).
The workshop, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Salma Abdul Hameed Al-Hashemi, Director of the Promotions Unit, and Prof. Dr. Khawla Taleb, the representative of the History Department in the Promotions Committee, included adequate explanations about the mechanism for presenting for the promotion, as well as answering the questions raised by the department’s instructors, especially with regard to publication controls in journals and how to calculate the points of the second table for every activity.
The workshop also dealt with an explanation of the most important promotion instructions No. (167) for the year (2017), the submission controls and the requirements required in Table No. (1) related to research and the number of points according to each rank, as well as the requirements of Table No. (2) related to scientific activities and the number of points required for each scientific rank.
The workshop aims to identify the correct steps and avoid mistakes when starting to raise the promotion and save effort and time to the Promotions Committee, which is devoted to responding to inquiries and examining and checking promotion letters due to the ignorance of many instructors of many matters and controls that were discussed and explained in the induction workshop.
