Conclusion of the Feminist Scientific Conference on Women and the Challenges of Globalization

 

 

Under the slogan of “Women, the Guide to Community Strength and Success in Life,” and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hameed Al Kaabi, the activities of the first annual International Feminist Conference on Women and the Challenges of Globalization were concluded on Thursday, 31/3/2022, which was organized by the scientific departments at the College of Arts (Department of Arabic Language, Translation and History), in cooperation with the Women Empowerment Unit at the University of Basrah.

The second day’s session began under the chairmanship of Dr. Kefaya Tarish from the College of Education for Women and the rapporteur Assistant Professor Fatima Aziz. The number of participating research reached nine research papers. The first research dealt with the Muslim family under globalization by Professor Dr. Rabia Belhaj from Algeria and the second research was entitled The Representation of cultural identity among Young Iraqi Basri Women as Construction in their personal life stories by Dr. Afanin Al_ Drawi.

The third research included Women’s Rights and Globalization by Prof. Dr. Samar Rahim Naima from Al-Mustansiriya University / Department of History.

The fourth research dealt with the impact of globalization on Arab society by Dr. Nahla Abbar Lazem - College of Arts / Department of History.

The fifth chapter discussed globalization, the crisis of identity absence, and the spread of individualism among adults, by assistant teacher Amani Nouri Saeed / Department of Translation / College of Arts.

The sixth research was entitled semiotics and expression tools in the time of globalization / by teacher Dr. Rafid Abdel Hussein and assistant teacher Alia Hadi Salem / College of Arts / Department of Translation.

The seventh research discussed the universality of Islam and the globalization of the West, a comparison in the concept and application by Prof. Dr. Salma Abdel Hameed Al-Hashemi / College of Arts - Department of History.

Dr. Jinan Muhammad Abbas Al-Tamimi from the College of Media / University of Anbar presented a theatrical scene on (globalization and the integration of women with disabilities into society).

Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Al-Bayati dealt with short stories about violence against women.

At the end of the conference, the Dean was honored by the conference management in appreciation of his efforts, then he delivered a speech in which he praised the conference and its leaders and the role of women in the College of Arts and their scientific, administrative and educational activities. 

Several recommendations were also made in the interest of the scientific research process, and certificates of appreciation were distributed to heads of research sessions, researchers and special committees in appreciation of their role in contributing to the success of this conference and managing research sessions in an outstanding way.
