Discussion of the Student Ahmed Jalil Musa’s Thesis

On Sunday morning, 10/4/2022, a master’s thesis, entitled (The care of the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) for the families of the martyrs) was discussed at the History Department at the College of Arts / University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student Ahmed Jalil Musa included an introduction and three chapters. The introduction dealt with the scope of the research and the presentation of the sources, the first chapter included the concept of martyrdom and the rules of dealing with the families of martyrs in Islam, the second chapter discussed the philosophy of care and its goals in the thought of the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and the third chapter discussed mechanisms and methods of dealing with the families of the martyrs.

The thesis aims to shed light on the role of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in caring for the families of the martyrs in all aspects. The thesis also aims to identify the ways in which the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) dealt with these families in order to be inspired by them to solve the problems and difficulties that we face in the present or the future when dealing with this group.

The thesis concluded with the great place that martyrdom occupies in Islamic thought, as well as the most important conditions agreed upon by Islamic sects of the description of martyrdom. Among the most important findings of the study is the rules by which the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) dealt with the families of the martyrs, whether in the economic aspect or the moral aspect, as well as the ideological aspect through education for the families of the martyrs.

The thesis recommended the necessity of following what was mentioned by the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in dealing with the families of the martyrs at the present time, as we notice the lack of society’s interest in the families of the martyrs.

The most important thing is the need to protect the women of the martyrs from the weak-minded who try to exploit their material needs to achieve their evil desires.
