The Department of Translation at the College of Arts/University of Basrah hosted the notary public of the Supreme Judicial Council/Basra Federal Court of Appeal, Mr. Safa Hassan Nissan on Tuesday 12/4/2022 to give a lecture on legal translation for fourth-stage students in cooperation with the instructor of legal translation in the department assistand teacher Ahmed Faleh Rabie.

The lecture included an explanation of basic concepts in the material such as public agencies and private agencies and their legal contents and the roles of translation and the translator in supporting the departments of the Supreme Judicial Council in facilitating the understanding and realization of the legal discourse in the folds of agencies. It also dealt with the importance of the role of the future translator in supporting state institutions related to legal translation.  The students asked a number of questions related to the role of the legal translator in the Judicial Council from the latter's point of view, to which Mr. Nissan answered.

The two parties, the notary public and the head of the department, prof. Zainab Sami Hawal, called for the development and consolidation of cooperation frameworks between the university and state institutions and the development of legal communication with the translation department, which constitutes an important turning point in accomplishing the tasks of other state institutions.
