The University of Basrah Organizes a Panel Discussion Entitled (Al-Manar Newspaper and its Position on the Issues of the Arab Mashreq)

The Department of History at the College of Arts / the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion by the postgraduate student (Masters) Radi Muhaisin Yatim about his thesis entitled ((Al-Manar newspaper and its position on the issues of the Arab Mashreq 1964-1967)).

The researcher explained that the thesis consists of an introduction, a preface, and four chapters, as well as a conclusion, appendices, and a list of sources.

In the first chapter, the master student dealt with the origination of the Al-Manar newspaper and its development during the research period in terms of the newspaper’s chapters and general line, its editors and its editor presidency the most important topics that it dealt with, and in the second chapter, he touched the political conditions of Iraq during the reigns of Abd al-Salam Arif and Abd al-Rahman Arif, such as the coup of Arif Abd al-Razzaq and the position of the newspaper and the second and third governments of Taher Yahyaa. In the third chapter, he dealt with national issues in the Arab Mashreq Such as the Palestinian issue and the Bahraini Progressive Forces, as well as Al-Manar newspaper keeping up with the events of the Arab- conflict and the events of the war in June 1967. This is what was dealt with in the fourth chapter of the study.

The study depended on many issues from the Al-Manar newspaper and other historical sources related to the Iraqi press and others related to the political history of the Arab world.
