Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the supervision of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zaki Abdullah Ahmed, the Continuing Development and Education Center, in cooperation with the History Department, organized a workshop entitled (The Family and its Role in Arab Socialization) in Al-Farazdaq Hall, at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The workshop, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Shaker Majid Kazem , dealt with many topics such as the definition of the family and the definition of the term socialization the history of its appearance and Arab knowledge of its content, which is intended in this study as the upbringing, education, and function of the family by transmitting customs, traditions, social and spiritual values to children.
The workshop also talked about the Arabs' knowledge of genetics and their keenness in choosing a good wife, the Arab doctrines in naming their children, and the Arab family’s keenness on educating their children, and taking care of their health . It also talked about the financial rights of women in Arab families. The workshop included mature discussions and interventions, which were enriched by the attending professors.
