Discussion of the Student Athar Jalil Muhammad

On Tuesday morning, 5 July 2022, in the Department of history at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a master thesis entitled ( (Shibli Shamil and his scientific, intellectual and political role in Egypt 1850-1917) was discussed.

The thesis presented by the student Athar Jalil Mohammed included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with Shibli Shamil's life and intellectual maturity , the second chapter focused on the scientific dimension in the intellectual basis of Shibli Shamil, the third chapter examined the social thought of Shibli Shamil, and the fourth chapter discussed the political thought of Shibli Shamil.

 

 

The thesis aims to introduce Dr. (Shibli Shamil) and the most prominent factors that contributed to the formulation of his ideas and intellectual trends, to understand his role as a pioneer of the modern Arab renaissance that appeared in the Arab world during the nineteenth century, and to know his medical, scientific, and intellectual role and the impact of the theory of evolution on his overall ideas and opinions in sociology, urban, religion, women, and education.

 

The thesis concluded that the intellectual contribution that Shibli Shamil was able to make in the field of modern Arab Thought is to show the important role that science can play in solving the problems suffered by society, this contribution can be considered of great importance within the societies that have suffered from the brunt of the progress achieved by Europe.
