On Thursday morning, 7 July 2022, in the Department of English language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a PhD thesis entitled ( A critical rhetorical analysis of the style of taking positions in American women's political discourse) was discussed.

The thesis presented by the student Rana Abdul Sattar Abd included six chapters.The first chapter included the research problem and its hypotheses, the second chapter discussed the relationship of language and politics, the third chapter introduced the term of taking positions and its structure in the English language, the fourth chapter reviewed the methodology and sample of the research, the fifth chapter provided an analysis of the sample of political speeches and its results, and the sixth chapter reviewed the results of the study and recommendations for future studies.

The thesis aims to identify the most important characteristics of women's political speech, represented by the style of taking positions, which reflects the political ideology of the speaker.
