On Thursday morning 4/8/2022 a master’s thesis, titled (Exclusion of the Other in Umayyad Poetry), was discussed at the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student Maryam Lafta Safi included four chapters, the first chapter discussed (political exclusion), the second chapter included (social exclusion), the third chapter discussed (religious exclusion), and the fourth chapter dealt with (artistic study).

The thesis aims to clarify the most important methods of violence and intimidation used by the Umayyads to torture the other and the reaction of the other against the authority and confronting it, which develops the thinking of the people of society to stand against any corruption in society and fight it.

The thesis recommended focusing on the two concepts (exclusion and the other) as they are modern concepts that serve literature in general in poetry and prose.
