The Department of Translation at the College of Arts Concludes a Workshop for Students of Undergraduate Studies

The Department of Translation at the College of Arts concluded the workshop for students of undergraduate studies, which began on Monday 19/9/2022 and ended on Thursday 22/9/2022.  This workshop, which was prepared and presented by the student, Mustafa Salah Karim, in the third stage, dealt with an integrated curriculum on how to develop, reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as increase general vocabulary in English. This workshop is considered  the cornerstone of the (Learn English) project, which is planned to be formed and established by a group of students of the Department.

It aimed to encourage students to speak English fluently, learn smoothly and clearly, and enhance their confidence in participating to break the obsession of fear of speaking this language.

This workshop ,which was supervised by the president of the Department, prof. Zeinab Sami Howel , and was attended by a group of professors of the Department : Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Araibi , Assist. Prof. Fatima Hussein Aziz, lect. Dr. afanin Abdul Wahid Yacoub and Assist.lect.Nora Aziz Turki, and was assisted in the presentation by the translator Balqis Asaad Mohammed, student Ahmed Adel Abdul Mahdi with the  coordination by student Mona Ayad Hassan. Theoretical and practical aspects were distributed over five lectures of one and a half to two hours each; interspersed with a break time which included activities and mental games to prepare students for the rest of the lecture in question after this break.

 

The Deanship of the college , represented by the dean, Dr. Majed Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, the assistant dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate studies, Dr. Haider Abdul Reda al-Tamimi, and the assistant dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Kazim Al-Khafaji, called for similar future workshops to enhance the students ' scientific and intellectual abilities and develop their skills in speaking English fluently .
