Discussion of the Student Ghaida Mahdi Aktami

On Monday morning, 24/10/2022, in the Department of Geography and geographic information systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah, a master thesis entitled (Geographical analysis of private education in some major cities of Basrah Governorate)was discussed.

 

The thesis presented by the student Ghaida Mahdi Aktami included five chapters. The first chapter discussed the historical and quantitative development of private education for some cities,the second chapter discussed some demographic characteristics in some major cities in Basrah Governorate,the third chapter dealt with the spatial distribution of private education institutions for some major cities in Basrah Governorate,the fourth focused on a statistical analysis of the spatial distribution of private education institutions in some of the main cities of Basrah Governorate, and the fifth chapter focused on evaluating the efficiency of private assessment institutions in some of the main cities of Basrah Governorate.

The thesis aims to study the reality of private education (kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools) for some major cities in Basrah Governorate.

 Second: Analyzing the adequacy and efficiency of private education services for the main cities in Basrah Governorate.

The thesis concluded:

1- The increase in the number of males over females in all cities of the study area, due to the return of many city dwellers to their areas to stabilize the security situation and improve the relative standard of living there.

2- The private education of some of the main cities in Basrah Governorate goes through three stages, beginning in 1895 in the city of Abu Al-Khasib, then the schools were closed by the British (Ottoman) occupation, and after the change of the political system in 1967, all private schools were abolished and were limited to government schools, but after 2003, after the change of the political system in the country, private schools began to increase continuously.
