On Monday morning, 24/10/2022, in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a PhD thesis entitled (Farah Antoun and his intellectual activity in the modern Arab renaissance 1874-1922 AD) (historical study) was discussed.

The thesis presented by the student Noureddine Suleiman included a preface and five chapters.The preface dealt with the motives of the modern Arab renaissance. The first chapter discussed Farah Antoun’s upbringing and life from 1874-1922 ,the second chapter dealt with secularism in the thought of Farah Antoun ,the third chapter dealt with political and religious reform in Farah Antoun’s thought ,the fourth chapter focused on social and educational reform in Farah Antoun’s thought, and the fifth chapter included a vision and an analysis of Farah Antoun's intellectual works.

The thesis aims to identify the life and effects of the philosopher Farah Antoun and to search for the role that he played in the Arab Renaissance.

The thesis concluded that the secular approach was adopted as one of the ideologies that it promoted in the Arab world.

The thesis recommended reading the thought and philosophy of Farah Antoun.
