Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al Kaabi, the Continuing Education Unit organized an international scientific seminar entitled The Iraqi economy between reality and ambition, an analytical study and comparison of the Emirates as a model 2003-2021.
The seminar, which was moderated by the Director of the Continuing Education Unit, lect. Dr. Mayada Qais Al-Qamandar, and lectured by (Prof.Dr. Faris Rashid Al-Bayati, Prof. Dr. Youssef Ali Abdel-Asadi, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Younis Al-Hadithi, and Assist. Prof.Dr. Ahmed Saddam Abdel-Saheb) highlighted the importance of economic development and building nations .Societies cannot achieve political development and increase political awareness of people without achieving economic development and democracy cannot work according to its correct mechanisms without economic development .all peoples who have a developed democratic system have preceded it with a developed economic system. the correlation between political prosperity represented by the right democracy and economic development is an organic interdependence that cannot be separated from each other and the structural imbalance of the Iraqi economy and the requirements of economic diversification in Iraq in the light of the Emirati experience.
At the seminar, the researchers called for:
1. Political and economic decision makers must develop an economic reform program according to a timetable in order to develop the Iraqi economy and create sustainable development.
2. Building an agricultural and industrial base for specific projects that can be used later to build other projects to increase local production.
3. Create a real investment environment to implement new projects or develop existing ones.
4. The development of the petrochemical, iron and steel industries and petroleum products will not open the fields to many projects.
