Discussion of the Student Sabreen Thabet Khalaf

On Tuesday morning, in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a master thesis entitled (Assessment of quality of life indicators in Al-Faw city) was discussed.

 

The thesis presented by the student Sabreen Thabet Khalaf Al-Tayeb included four chapters.The first chapter discussed the conceptual framework of the quality of life and its indicators ,the second chapter included some demographic characteristics of the city of Al-Faw ,the third chapter discussed urban land uses in the city of Al-Faw, and the fourth chapter dealt with indicators and assessment of the quality of life in the city of Al-Faw.

 

The thesis aims to identify an integrated geographical analysis and evaluation of the indicators of quality of life in the city of Al-Faw (residential, economic, social, service) for all levels, patterns and spatial units that benefit geographical research in the urban, population and economic development of the city.

 

The thesis concluded that the geographical evaluation of the comprehensive urban quality of life indicators resulting from the objective and subjective indicators of the variables (residential, economic, social, basic services) is divided into three patterns that represented the luxury pattern in each of the neighborhoods (Al-Karar, Al-Zahra, Al-Rasoul), the medium-quality neighborhood pattern and included  (Al-Salam, Al-Madina, Al-Hazam, Al-Sadr), while the quality of life declined in the third pattern, which included (Al-Sadiq, Al-Hussain).
