The University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar Entitled (Contemporary Readings in the Geography Curriculum)

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Tamimi, the Department of Geography and Geographical Information Systems, in cooperation with the Education Unit at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah, organized a the scientific seminar  entitled (Contemporary Readings in geography curriculum).

The seminar, which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Shukri Ibrahim Al-Hassan, and in which Prof. Dr. Amal Saleh Aboud, Assist. Prof.Dr. Hoda Khaled Shaaban, Assist. Prof.Dr. Nadia Nouri Ali, Prof.Dr. Muhammad Khudhair Salman, Prof.Dr. Ali Mustafa Mahos, and Assist. Prof.Shaima Sami  Abdel Hafez lectured, included introducing the impact of contemporary geographical research methods on the development of geography, the relationship of social geography with other sciences and its impact on geographical research methods, and finally the development of modern means and methods in the study of weather and climate science.

The participants in the seminar sought to focus on the applied aspect of geographical research and to reveal many important results, most notably the development of geographic characteristics at various levels and fields, and the call to go towards research and studies of geography with high specialization and accurate results.

The results of the researchers in this seminar confirmed that the applied trend in geography has opened broad scientific horizons to the directions of geographers to achieve their serious desires for scientific integration with their societies and to contribute to their development.
