The University of Basrah Organizes a Panel Discussion Entitled (The concept of science in Arabic grammar)

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al Kaabi, and as part of his scientific activity for the new academic year, the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion entitled(The Concept of Science in Arabic Grammar: Essence, Type and Function) by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rassan and moderated by Prof. Dr. Engers Tohme, and in the presence of a large number of the department’s instructors.

 

In this panel discussion, Professor Dr. Ahmed Rassan presented a general view of the concept of science in the grammarians’ works, through his research paper, which included a preface and three sections, in which he dealt with the meaning of science and its divisions mentioned by the grammarians, its types, evidence and reading in grammar.

 

Among the results that the researcher reached were the following:

 

1. Grammar's full awareness of the meanings of lexical and idiomatic science.

 2. Estimating the value of sciences and arranging them in a knowledge ladder based on the importance of their topics

 3. The concept of science has a comprehensive manifestation in Arab thinking.

In conclusion, Professor Dr. Ahmed recommended studying scientific concepts in Arabic sciences, and extrapolating their implications to form scientific visions and theories that contribute to the development of grammatical and linguistic thought.
