The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a scientific trip for Master students (natural geography branch) to the al-Tayeb area in Maysan governorate, accompanied by Professor Dr. Rashid Abd Rashid Al-Sharifi, professor Dr. Mohammed Abdulwahab al-Asadi , Dr. Suad Abdullah Al-hajami , Dr. Kholoud Kazem al-Jurani, and Dr. Ahmed Hashoush .

The purpose of the trip was to identify the natural geomorphological and hydrological characteristics , the types of geological structures , the nature of tectonic activity of that region , and to identify the types of rocks , canyons , streams and water channels, as well as to identify the nature of the economic activity of that region, from gravel crushing plants, agricultural activity, fishing, and other field observations.
