Department of History at the College of Arts Conducts Scientific Visit to the Syriac Catholic Church (The Sacred Heart of Jesus)

The Department of History at the College of Arts / University of Basrah organized a scientific visit by a group of professors of the Department of History, with students of the fourth stage, to the Syriac Catholic Church (Sacred Heart of Jesus) in Basra to offer congratulations on the occasion of the imminent birth of Jesus, peace be upon him.

The visit, which was carried out by Prof. Dr. Nazim Rashem Maatouk, Prof. Dr. Ansam Ghadban Abboud, Instructor Dr. Araa Jassim Muhammad, Assistant Professor Dr. Nahla Abbar Lazim, Assistant Professor Dr. Muayad Ibrahim Muhammad, and Instructor Dr. Zainab Abbas Hassan, as well as the fourth stage students, aimed to strengthen the relationship between the university and the community, and introduce students to the history of the Catholic Church in Basra, and learn about some matters related to the Christian religion, in addition to offering congratulations on the imminent birth of Jesus, peace be upon him.

The visiting delegation offered congratulations and a commemorative plaque to the church, and listened to a lecture on the history of the church given by Rev. Boutros.

At the end of the visit, the professors recommended the need to promote a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between the different segments of Iraqi society, in general, and Basra in particular and the need to emphasize strengthening the relationship between the university and society, and confirming its role in it.
