Basrah University Conducts a Scientific Visit to the Ancient City of Babylon

 The Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a scientific visit to the ancient city of Babylon, by a group of professors from the History Department, consisting of Prof. Dr. Shaker Majeed Kazem, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Munshed, Prof. Dr. Nazim Rashem Maatouk, Prof. Dr. Ansam Ghadban Abboud, Prof. Dr. Raghad Faisal Abdel-Wahhab, Prof. Dr. Haidar Lazim Aziz, Assistant Prof. Dr. Intisar Adnan Abdel-Wahed, Assistant Prof. Dr. Raed Imad Muhammad, and Teacher Zahraa Hamid Khalil, as well as Assistant Prof. Dr. Abbas Hadi Musa from the College of Education for Women.  

The delegation of the University of Basrah was received by the Director of the Antiquities Inspectorate and a number of senior employees, and Prof. Dr. Qais Hatem Al-Janabi from the University of Babylon.

 The scientific visit aimed to view the historical antiquities in the city, which date back to prehistoric times, including the antiquities of the eras of Kings Hammurabi and Nebuchadnezzar, where Professor Sabah from the Babylon Antiquities Inspectorate gave detailed explanations about the features of the antiquities dating back to the Babylonian era.

 At the end of the visit, the professors recommended the following:

 1. The need to pay attention to the archaeological monuments located in the city of Babylon and the rest of the Iraqi cities, and to open the door for international archaeological missions to explore more of them.

 2. Attempting to develop these archaeological monuments, provide services therein, and open them to tourists from different parts of the world, to introduce them to the country's civilization, and to benefit from it as a financial resource that supports the state treasury.
