The Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah held a training course for first-stage students, within a structured curriculum that included introductory lectures on the importance of history science and its global status, with the aim of enhancing the student's confidence in his specialization;  The second lecture included an introduction to the University of Basrah, the College of Arts, and the Department of History, in terms of the foundation and administrative structure of each of them.

As for the third lecture, it included informing the students of a detailed explanation of the academic system, the system of absences, and how grades are calculated, as well as the student discipline law and university instructions.

This task was undertaken by a group of professors of the department, under the direct supervision of the president of the Department of History.
