The Arabic Language Department Celebrates the International Arabic Language Day

 

Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen, and the respected Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Al-Kaabi, the Department of Arabic Language held a large poetry ceremony to celebrate the International Arabic Language Day.

 

The ceremony, which was held in the hall of the Arabic Language Theatre, was attended by a wide academic presence of the department instructors and students.

The ceremony, which began with verses from the Holy Quran, included the playing of the national anthem, the reading of Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, and the department speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Ingers Tohme, in which he welcomed the honorable attendees, and talked about the importance of the Arabic language, its permanence, and its eloquence, and then followed the readings of poetry in classical Arabic for each of the poets:

 The ceremony was concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates to the participants.
