Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University, Prof.Dr. Iman Shamkhi Jaber, a workshop entitled (Sources of Arab History before Islam) was held by Prof.Dr. Shaker Majeed Kazem / University of Basrah / College of Arts / Department of History, on Wednesday 11/1/2023 in the hall of the History Department / College of Arts. It was attended by the president of the History Department, Prof. Dr. Najat Abdel-Karim Abdel-Sada, and several university instructors and students of the department. 

The workshop sought to acquaint researchers, scholars and postgraduate students in the Islamic history branch, and students of primary studies, with the sources of Arab history before Islam, because of its importance in preparing and completing their research, studies, and graduation research projects for fourth-stage students.

The workshop dealt with several topics related to pre-Islamic history sources, such as the topic of inscriptions, the topic of classical sources (Greek and Roman) and the Torah, the topic of the Holy Quran, and the topic of sources of Islamic history.
