On Monday morning, 23/1/2023, a PhD thesis, entitled (patterns of linguistic meaning in the book Al Waseet in Interpretation of the Qur’an), was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by student Mustafa Ismail Khalil included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the morphological meaning, the second chapter discussed the grammatical meaning, the third chapter included the lexical meaning, and the fourth chapter dealt with the metaphorical meaning.
The thesis aims to identify the patterns of the linguistic meaning in the book (Al Waseet in Interpretation of the Qur’an) because it is a specialized book in the interpretation of the Qur’an, and the extent to which the author uses the linguistic aspect in his interpretation of the verses of the Noble Qur’an.
The thesis concluded that the author of this book (Al-Wahidi 468 AH) had examined the linguistic meanings in explaining the purposes of some of the blessed verses in the Holy Quran, such as morphological meanings, grammatical meanings, lexical meanings, and metaphorical meanings.
