Discussion of the Student Dina Farouk Saleh

On Monday morning, 27/2/2023, a PhD thesis entitled (US policy towards Namibia 1977-1990) was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student, Dina Farouk Saleh, included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the international conflict towards the region of Namibia 1884-1978, the second chapter discussed the position of the United States of America on South African policy towards Namibia, and the third chapter dealt with Namibia during the era of the three American presidents (Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bush Sr.).

The thesis aims to identify Namibia, which is one of the important African countries, as it is located in the far southwest of the African continent.

The thesis concluded that the United Nations is unable to apply its decisions to the South African government, and convince it of the need to abandon the territory and grant the people the right to self-determination, and also its failure to impose economic sanctions on it and the position of the United States on that.
