The University of Basrah Holds a Scientific Seminar Entitled (The Population of Basrah between Geographical Readings and Applications)

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah held a scientific seminar entitled (The population of Basrah between Geographical Readings and Applications).

 

The seminar, which was delivered by:

Dr. Bassem Abdulaziz Al-Othman, who participated in a research paper entitled (The population of Basra between two centuries) and father Simaan, the pastor of the Catholic Church, who participated with a research paper entitled (Christians in Basrah, their history, churches, personalities and migration ) as for Assist.Prof. Huda Khalid Atiyah, she participated in a research paper entitled (geographical distribution of Christian communities in the city of Basrah ) and Assist.prof.Huda Dawood Al-Najm touched on (the expatriate labor force in the governorate, its roots and size, a geographical analysis of the reality of the changes that occurred in the population of Basra Governorate during two centuries, as well as getting acquainted with the nature of the Christian formation in Iraq and Basrah  governorate, especially from the history of the Christian religion in Basrah and those who are the most prominent figures in the Basrah community, and getting acquainted with the types of religions, Christian churches and temples in Basrah governorate.

The seminar included informing the students and professors about the composition of the population of Basra Governorate, and what are the most important incoming migrations to the governorate, as well as the nature of the geographical factors that contributed to the development of the growth rates of the Basra community.
