A PhD thesis entitled (The history of the Arabs before Islam, an orientalist vision in the Department of Islamic Encyclopedia - a critical study) was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the student Farqad Tariq Ali included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the political life of the Arabs before Islam_ from an orientalist point of view, the second chapter discussed the social and economic aspect of the Arabs before Islam_ from an orientalist point of view , and the third chapter dealt with the ideological and intellectual life of the Arabs before Islam_ from an orientalist point of view.

The thesis aims at defining what the orientalists wrote in (the department of Islamic Encyclopedia) about the history of the Arabs before Islam, criticizing it, responding to it, discussing it, analyzing it, sifting it, and not taking it on its faults in various aspects (political, social, economic, intellectual, and cultural).

The thesis concluded that the Islamic Encyclopedia contains a lot of information about the history of the Arabs before Islam in various fields and provides valuable information to the researcher whose counterpart is rare in other books. No researcher specializing in the history of the Arabs before Islam or the history of Islamic civilization can ignore the Islamic Encyclopedia, which is the vast resource of knowledge, and also the information in the department of Islamic Encyclopedia represents the essence of the efforts of the masters of orientalist thought represented by the great orientalists.
