Discussion of Student Wissam Nuri Abdel Wahid

On Monday morning 3/13/2023, a PhD thesis entitled (Basra District Police 1933-1958: a historical and social study) was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

 

The thesis presented by the student, Wissam Nouri Abdel Wahid, included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the administrative and social conditions in the Basra brigade 1933-1958, the second chapter discussed the Basra brigade police 1933-1958, the third chapter dealt with the police formations, the Central Prison and the Customs and Excise Police Directorate in the Basra brigade 1933-1958 and the fourth chapter included the role of the Basra brigade police in civil crimes and political issues and the position of the Basra Press on the activity and work of the Basra brigade police 1933-1958.

The thesis aims to identify the work of the police institution in the Basra district by revealing its most prominent formations and accessories, and revealing its activity and role in combating crimes and maintaining security and order in Basra community.

The thesis concluded:

The police institution in the Basra district provided a lot of efforts and services through the application of the laws issued to it by the General Police Directorate, in addition to its effective role in combating many social issues and combating smuggling in the Basra district.

The thesis recommended the need to write about the history of the city of Basra and about the administrative and service institutions in this city, in which many other aspects are still subject to research and study.
