Based on the directives of the respected President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and in order to activate the policy of continuous development, a workshop was held in the presidency of the University of Basrah for the digital libraries representatives in all colleges, in to launch the comprehensive electronic library that links the colleges libraries with the the central library.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Library, Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Issawi, who stressed the need to launch the project in a way that guarantees the advancement of the university libraries and to provide the best services to researchers and to facilitate the access to the sources of research material.
