Based on the principle of cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education, the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basra received students from Al-Hartha Preparatory School for Boys under the supervision of (Mr. Farhan Daim and Mr. Muslim Hassan).

The reception included the preparation of four lectures for the students, in which they dealt with:

1- Prof. Dr. Amal Saleh Al-Kaabi, entitled (The importance of geography and the development of its curricula).

2- Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab al-Asadi, who touched on (modern techniques in geography).

3- Professor Dr. Rashid Abd Rashid Al-Sharifi, who touched on (Department of Geography in Half a Century).

4- Chemist Zuhair Ghazi Awwad and dealt with (the importance of the environmental research laboratory in geographical research).
