The Discussion of the Student Mustafa Qasim Aziz

On Sunday morning, 3/19/2023, a master's thesis entitled (the city of Eridu 5500-539 BC: a historical study) was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

 The thesis presented by the student Mustafa Qasim Aziz included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the geography of the city of Eridu and its early inhabitants. The second chapter discussed the religious importance of the city of Eridu. The third chapter dealt with the status of Eridu in ancient Iraqi literature.

 The thesis aims to identify the importance of the city of Eridu as the first city built in the southern part of Mesopotamia according to the schedules of the Sumerian kings.

 The thesis concluded the great importance that the city of Eridu had for the kings of Mesopotamia and in ancient Iraqi literature, in addition to its religious importance.
