The Department of Translation at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture for postgraduate students (Masters).

The lecture dealt with the subject of classification of comparative linguistics studies and its impact on translation, where structural, taxonomic, functional differences, semantic dimensions and their patterns such as synonymy and antonymy and their impact on the field of translation were addressed. Some students also made presentations in this field.

The lecture was concluded by Assistant Professor Dr. Jawad Al-Ma'arij by presenting a summary in which he compared the Arabic and English languages ​​in this field.
