Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Ridha Al-Tamimi, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Basrah held a scientific seminar entitled (The dangers of smoking in educational institutions, students of the University of Basrah as a model)

The seminar, in which Assistant Professor Afkar Fadel Karim, Assistant Professor Iman Taha Abdel-Hussein, and Professor Dr. Ibtihal Shaker Majeed lectured, included the reasons for continuing to smoke and how to quit.

The seminar aimed to know the harms of smoking and its impact on human health, its repercussions, the causes that led to it and its effects, as well as the danger of smoking on human health in different age groups.

The researchers recommended in the seminar to search for the causes and treat them and how to reduce them and spread awareness in the various educational institutions
