Under the auspices of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen, and the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, and on the occasion of the fifty-sixth anniversary of the founding of the University of Basrah, and in the midst of a distinguished academic presence, the Arabic Language Department held its annual festival to celebrate this occasion in the theater hall of the College of Arts.
The festival included a number of diverse cultural activities, as it began with verses from the Holy Quran, then the national anthem, reading Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs, and the speech of the festival delivered by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Abd Kazim Al-Khafaji. He began by welcoming the attendees and congratulating them on this great occasion, which is the establishment of the University of Basrah, which coincides with the birth of the grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hassan bin Ali, praising the civilized and scientific role of the University of Basrah.
After that, a theatrical performance was presented, and then the boys of the Al-Madain Private School presented two musicals that were inspired by the folklore, and the night of (Al-Karka’an), after which they presented various poetry readings.
