On Sunday morning, a master thesis entitled (Confinement in the Land of Andalusia (138-484 AH / 756-1091 AD )) was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by the student, Ayat Qassem Faleh Nasser, included four chapters. The first chapter included the concept of confinement and its general framework, the second chapter dealt with the political and military confinement, the third chapter dealt with the intellectual confinement, and the fourth chapter dealt with the social and economic confinement.
The study concluded:
1- The confinement came with several meanings, such as isolation, prevention, and imprisonment, whether this was for princes, ministers, or the general public. It also came with the meaning of siege, which is the siege on cities and surrounding them in times of war. The term storage also means the quarantine of foods, goods, merchandise, and others.
2- The religious trend had a major role in the confinement of the holders of positions contrary to the prevailing doctrine of the state, as well as with regard to other sciences such as philosophy, logic and theology, as philosophy was a science that was hated by the people of Andalusia.
3- The authority practiced types of confinement to protect the public interest and prevent economic exploitation in times of crises when the weak-minded exercise a kind of monopoly on some goods, commodities, and agricultural crops.
