Discussion of the Student Mareb Tawfiq Hashem

A master thesis entitled (some dynamic properties of soils of different textures in the districts of Abu al-Khasib and al-Qurna and their agricultural effects) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by student Marib Tawfiq Hashem included three chapters. The first chapter dealt with the natural and human factors affecting the dynamic properties of the soil of the study area, the second chapter dealt with the physical and chemical properties of the soil of the study area, and the third chapter discussed the dynamic properties of the soil and its agricultural effects.

The thesis aims to study soil variation in the study area in terms of the dynamic characteristics affecting it, with an emphasis on the need to preserve the soil when carrying out various agricultural operations and preparing it for cultivation.

The thesis concluded:

The studied soil textures were different between shoulder soil sites and basin soil sites as a result of the variation in physical and chemical properties and limits of  Atterberg varied for the liquidity limit, the plasticity limit and the plasticity index, as it was located between medium and high values according to the Atterberg classification in 1948.

The thesis concluded that it is necessary to guide and follow farmers to the importance of the agricultural cycle, as well as the use of all kinds of fertilizers, especially chemical ones, and the introduction of modern machines to the agricultural process and their use scientifically and correctly.
