A master thesis entitled (geographical analysis of cardiovascular diseases in Basra Governorate for the period 2010-2020) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by the student, Saja Majed Hamed, included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with the theoretical approach to the study, the second chapter examined the temporal dimensions of cardiovascular diseases in Basra Governorate for the period 2010-2020, the third chapter discussed the spatial distribution of cardiovascular diseases in Basra Governorate for the period from 2010-2020, and the fourth chapter included the demographic dimensions of people with cardiovascular disease in Basra Governorate for the period 2010-2020.
The thesis aims at explaining several axes, the most important of which are:
1- Classification of cardiovascular diseases according to medical and geographical bases.
2- Establishing an accurate and comprehensive health geographic database that contributes to understanding the health reality of the governorate in light of the current epidemiological situation.
3- Identifying the spatial pattern of cardiovascular diseases in the governorate by understanding aspects of the epidemiological pattern of cardiovascular diseases that include temporal, spatial and demographic dimensions.
The thesis concluded:
1- There are many types of cardiovascular diseases that affect the population of the governorate, the most common of which are the diseases under study, which are (essential hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, heart failure, congenital heart defects, and other types).
2- Increasing rates of cardiovascular disease in Iraq and the study area.
