Discussion of the Student Ahmed Yassin Hamid

A master thesis entitled (natural and human ingredients, large industries, their problems, and their spatial suitability) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

 

The thesis presented by student Ahmed Yassin Hamid included four chapters.The first chapter discussed the concept of large industries, their characteristics, and their historical development ,the second chapter discussed the elements of settlement of large industries in Basrah Governorate ,the third chapter dealt with the structure of large industries in Basra Governorate and their geographical distribution, and the fourth chapter included problems and solutions of large industries in Basrah Governorate and their spatial suitability.

The study aims to:

A- Knowing the geographical distribution of large industries in Basra Governorate, the number of workers and the area they occupy.

B- Determining the type of large industries in the province of Basra according to the local standards adopted in the classification of large industries, which refers to the provision of 30 workers or more for one large industry.

 

The thesis concluded:

Distribution of large industries geographically in the province of Basra, as the concept of large industries, their importance, characteristics and historical development were identified, and knowledge of the most important geographical factors that work to localize industries in the province, as well as a study of the structure of metal industries and their geographical distribution according to the districts of the province and according to their industrial type, as well as clarifying the most important problems that facing the growth and development of these industries in the province of Basrah and their spatial suitability.

 

the thesis recommend :

 

1- The need to expedite the operation of large industrial facilities and raise their production capacities in order to achieve financial profits, fill the shortage in raw materials, develop the economic process, and support and encourage other industries.

2- Interest in supporting industrial projects by providing loans and advances and granting licenses for industrial development to owners of large establishments.
