A discussion of the student Salam Karim Malak (Doctorate)

On Tuesday morning, 11/11/2020, a doctoral thesis was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language, college of Arts, university of Basrah entitled "Identity in Modern Arabic Poetry in Iraq - The First Half of the Twentieth Century:  References and Genres Study".

The thesis presented by the student Salam Karim Malak included three chapters. The first chapter dealt with the references of identity, such as religious, national, and cultural references. The second chapter discussed the types of identity such as fixed, transformed, and dual identity. While the third chapter concerned with identity problems, as it presented the relationship of Arabs with the Turks, the rebellious, rejection, strangers and anxiety.

The thesis clarified the issue of identity in modern Arab poetry in Iraq, its search for its references, its types and its problems within an important period in the modern history of Iraq, which is the first half of the twentieth century.
